+SiteStudio

at Siteworks

A student and graduate driven design research studio.
(an experiment…)

+SiteStudio is a site based design research studio, driven by and run for, design students and graduates.
A young collective that exists through being grounded on and with site.
Based and founded at Siteworks, the studios' model sees the practice of site care taking exchanged for a space and test site to explore creative production and research outputs.
The studio is less a singular entity and more a supportive infrastructure for independent creative initiatives.

We work on, with and for site.
We observe, question, propose and speculate.
We walk and talk the 'daily hum' of site.

Through the shared act of care-taking and hosting, the studio's intimate relationship with site is formed through maintaining and tending to site, it's inhabitants, visitors and events.

The studio experiment is driven by questions.

Can there be alternative forms of design practice that meaningfully combines research (the academic) and design as business (the private)?

Can there be alternative forms of care taking and maintenance of sites?

Can there be alternative environments for design students and graduates to understand themselves as designers whilst both studying, and when graduated?
