OVERVIEW

The Moreland Civic Lab allows for design professionals to work on issues of public importance in a progressive and experimental manner.

In an exchange for a rent-free shared office space and associated facilities in the heart of Brunswick, think tank members will work with a group of skilled professionals, post graduate students and researchers committed to progressive social projects and community benefit.

We are seeking 24 design professionals, post graduate students and researchers to form the team for a minimum of 24 months and contributing 24 hours per month in an ongoing capacity.

This group will be invited to participate in a range of design studios focusing on local government and project-specific issues. On a quarterly basis, new project briefs will be issued to the group for consideration and balloting.

We are specifically seeking people with skills in the following areas:

  • Architecture and Design
  • Arts and Culture
  • Community development
  • Education and training
  • Pedagogical research
  • Transport and Infrastructure
  • Urban Planning

GUIDELINES

DIVERSITY
Diversity within the team is critical to the success of the Moreland Civic Lab design studio environment. We are looking for individuals who bring diverse skills and areas of interest to the group.

RESEARCH
Siteworks is a council asset and its use over the coming years is critical to informing the future of the site.

This is a live research-driven project, more than a venue for hire.  This is an exciting opportunity for all of us to contribute to the future of the site.

FEEDBACK
Integral to being part of the Moreland Civic Lab team is to provide regular feedback through a quarterly acquittal process.

The acquittal is a reciprocal relationship and as part of the process we are able to provide improvements to the working structure of the project as well as provide council with valuable information on the site and its future.
